Acacia saligna, a species of wattle introduced from Australia, is one of the main threats to important habitats in the SBAs. This species is quick to colonise areas, particularly those that have been affected by fire and/or mechanical disturbance. Mapping, monitoring spread and looking at control of this plant are being carried out in the SBAs.

An example of Acacia salignia encroachment.
